“Indict Trump” – Another Winning Message, But This Blogger Had Only Three Trophies to Hand Out Today!!  More Original Art Work Would Have Placed this Sign into Award Contention!

This Sign: “Release the Trump/Epstein Pedo-Files” was Another Favorite of this Blogger.  It Came in Third Place in the Competition; it was a Really Tough Call, Though!

Less Controversial Than the First Place Winner is:  “This is a Love America Protest” Sign and the Second Place Winner in This Blogger’s Contest Among Many Amazing Entries at the Deering Oaks Park NO KINGS RallyThis Afternoon.

They came by car, by bicycle and many simply walked to the peaceful NO KINGS Rally at Deering Oaks Park this afternoon in Portland. Thousands began arriving from all over Maine before the Rally started  at 1:30 pm and kept up the steady stream until this blogger left around 2:15 pm.  The Rally was scheduled to continue until 3:00 pm.,  However, given the festive nature of the participants and the sunny, warm weather –  who knows how long this anti-Trump Rally will continue!

They came together to  send a strong message of disapproval to King Trump.  They came to support democracy.  Others came to tell Speaker Mike Johnson and his cronies that this was a “Love America” Rally, Not a “Hate America” Rally – contrary to what some Republicans have been claiming.  Some came to deliver a message of the Law is King not Trump. Some wanted to tell King Trump to extend the tax credit for health care.  And why has he promised Venezuela $40 billion of US tax payers money? The list was long.

If you could not get close enough to the speaker because of the size of the crowd, reading the creative and insightful signs was a good sampling of what’s on the minds of Mainers.  Many photographs of wonderful signs  were taken today.  Unfortunately, this blogger was unable to display them all on this story.  But they will be used in future stories herein.

There was a report on cable news last night that the Republican Governors of Virginia and Texas were considering sending in the National Guard to Rally sites to quell any violence from the “pro-hamas, terrorists,” etc. that might be needed.

However, apparently Governor Janet T. Mills, 77 (D) did not see  the need to send in the National Guard to Portland or elsewhere in the state. Furthermore, this blogger  did not see any police presence at the Rally from 1:15 pm – 2:15 pm.

One punk yelled at this blogger because he said he’s a Trump supporter, but that was the only sign of unrest seen by this blogger today.

A gentleman who drove down from Ellsworth to attend the Portland NO KINGS Rally said he had recently attended a rally for Graham Platner at his mother’s seafood restaurant in Sullivan; Ironbound Restaurant and Inn.  It’s one of the venues that Mr. Planter, an oyster farmer, sells his oysters to.  “Graham has the best oysters in Maine,” said this gentleman from Ellsworth.  Mr. Platner is well positioned to unseat the Spineless Senator Susan Collins (R) in her bid for re-election next year. Attendees surveyed at this non-partisan Rally agreed wholeheartedly.

“Sunshine is the best disinfectant,” Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis said back in 1914.  There was plenty of sunshine in Portland today!

(On a personal note, this blogger admits being partial to oysters.  My great grandfather, Henry Harding, opened the first oyster restaurant in Portland in Monument Square – it was called Harding’s  Oyster Bar.  He and a brother owned a fleet of oyster schooners and imported them from Wellfleet, Cape Cod, Massachusetts to Portland harbor.  I love oysters!)
