The Second Edition of the Maine Lit Fest is returning next month to a place near you! It runs from October 3rd to October 13th. The locations include Farmington, Portland, Brunswick, Waterville, Bangor, Presque Isle and on-line. The event is sposored by the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance, of Portland.
The Fest is intended to appeal to a variety of Maine people and intended not only for the “booksih” crowd, but for people who might not expect to attend a book Festival.
MWPA is partnering with a wide range of community partners and sponsors across the state including bookstores, organizations, media, universities, businesses and mdre.

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, there will be a “Showcase of Black Poet Laureates,” at Space Gallery, Portland, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Five Black poets from across the US wil read their work and engage in a panel discussion moderated by Maya Williams, former Poet Laureate of Portland.
“An Evening with Viet Thank Nguyen” at Portland High School willl run from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. Pultizger Prize-winning author will read from his work and discuss his life as a writer, parent and refuge. Date of the event not given. Tickets are $10. per person.
On Thursday, October 10th, Melissa Febos will speak at the Faculty Room of Bowdoin College, Brunswick. Join her, a best-selling and award-winning author of “Girlhood” and “Body Work,” as she reflects on her journey as a writer, and queer person who has thought and written deeply about pleasure and pain, about storytelling and the body.
