On Sunday, July 30, 2023, the Maine Marine Patrol finished its ninth straight day searching for lobsterman Tylar Michaud, 18, of Steuben, missing since Friday, July 21st. Marine Patrol will continue the search effort in the coming weeks according to a notice from the MaineDMR News received this morning.
Sunday’s search involved Maine Patrol and US Fish and Wildlife Service on the water and on land. Maine Patrol vessels searched Dyer Bay in Steuben to Tom Leighton Pond in Milbridge. Maine Patrol and USFWS personnel conducted a four-mile shoreside search on Bois Bubert Island.
Maine Patrol Pilot Steve Ingram has continued to fly daiiy throughout the search, surpassing 50 hours Sunday. Pilot Ingram was assisted by private pilots, including local lobstermen and Air Guard members.
Ranger PIlot Joel Tourteiotte with the Maine Forest Service also flew surveiliance Sunday afternoon.
Family and friends again joined the search on Sunday.
“I am grateful for the unprecedented on-going effort of all who have joined togeher in this difficult search,” said Maine Department of Marine Resources Commissioner Patrick Keliher.
