“We are planning a walk to Ft. Allen Park on September 23, 2023,” said George late this afternoon at the Maine YogaFest at East End Community School on Munjoy Hill, where he was one of the 16 vendors at the 9th annual event. The walk starts at 10:00 am. There are other walks in the St. John Valley, Downeast Maine and Bangor in September as well.
There were 45 workshops. 31 instructors and a variety of yoga styles at the two day event, according to Andrea Gleason, director of the event.
Stacy Robert, who has been attending the YogaFest since its start nine years ago as an instructor said this was the first year that she has been a vendor as well. Robert, from Salem, New Hampshire said she thought attendance was down from past years because of the timing of the event at the end of July. She suggested that at the end of July and beginning of August is when many families go on vacation.
Gleason said that she always holds the YogaFest in the month of July. But she does have to change the time of the month to accommodate varying schedules. Assisting her was her husband Chris who is an executive at the nearby WEX headquarters.
