Ryan Fecteau Elected Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives

Today, Representative Ryan Fecteau, (D-Biddeford) was formally elected as Maine’s Speaker of the House of Repreentatives for the 132nd session of the legislature.

“I am deeply grateful for the support of the Maine House and honored to step into the role of Speaker for these next two years.  We have a tremendous responsibility to the people of Maine, who are counting on us to work together.  The strength of our democracy lies in the diversity of voices, perspectives and ideas that we bring to the table.  In my role as Speaker of the House and in my role as a state representaative for  my hometown, I will work with my colleagues to face the challenges ahead and work harder than ever to move Maine forward,” wrote Speaker Fecteau in the press release issued by Mary-Erin Casale this afternoon.

Speaker Fecteau is serving his second nonconsecutive term as Speaker of the House and his fifth nonconsecutive term in the Maine House of Representatives, representing part of his hometown of Biddeford.
