On Wednesday, December 4, at 4;10 am., Portland Police observed a vehicle with a driver asleep behind the wheel in the middle of the road near the Walton Street train tracks. After a brief conversation, the driver fled at a high rate of speed and crashed the vehicle into a tree at 180 Ocean Avenue before fleeing on foot. A tracking Kk-9 was called in from Falmouth which ended up leading officer direcdtly to the suspect, who was hiding behind 205 Ocean Avenue.
Hamsa Omar, 21, of POrtland was arrested and charged with eight charges including ilegall drug related matters. He was in possession of a handgun, drugs and $5,753 in cash. Omar was transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
