Portland to be Recipient of Two Electric Charging Stations This Year Says Governor Mills

The Marginal Way Parking Lot and Hannaford Supermarket on Forest Avenue in Portland are slated to receive new high speed electric vehicle charging stations sometime over the next year as part of the State’s commitment to build an accessible and reliable network according to a press release issued by Governor Mills (D) office this morning. These two are among the 17 new charging stations scheduled for the entire state of Maine.

The new charging sites, which will feature 52 new charges, have been selected with the goal of expanding the charging network to serve travelers on heavily traveled highways and roads.  The high speed EV charges will be installed in the coming year.

The total investment in the charging infrastructure is nearlly $8.6 million.  Fundinbg for the charging includes $5.7 million from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program.

In Cumberland County other towns due to have new charging stations are Gorham, Windham and Bridgton.  Other counties in Maine expecting to be the recipients of new charging stations this year are:   Piscataquis, Pemobscot, Oxford and Franklin..
