The city of Portland is alerting residents that a cooling center is available to the public at the downtdown Portland Public Library, 5 Monument Square, according to a press releae issued late this afternoon. The public is welcome to come inside to cool off from the heat during the library’s regular business hours from 10:00 am – to 6:00 pm on Thursday and from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm on Friday.
Additionallly, the city urges people to take advantage of the Deering Oaks Ravine, the Kiwanis Pool and the several splash pools around the city,
People are urged to limit outdoor activities, drink plenty of water and wear light colored clothing. Please check on your elderly neighbors to make sure they are okay and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
