Portland Police are investigating an attack that happened last night around 10:25 pm as the victim, a 24-year-old woman, was walking home from work in the area of 250 Brackett Street,.
A witness reported that the suspect, described as a tall and thin white male, ran up behind the victim and hit her in the head with some sort of club or blunt object. The victim was treated at the scene and later taken to the hospital where she was treated and released. The suspect in this case was described as wearing a gray hoodie and a ball cap and was last seen running away on Carleton Street. In response, the West End Neighborhood Association will have Coreena Behnke, of the Portland Police Department lead instructor for self-defense training in partnership with the Amy St. Laurent Foundation at the West End Neighborhood Association meeting tonight between 6:30 – 7:30 pm. She will give attendees tips for self-defense, insight into the complaint process and more. This meeting will be held OUTSIDE at the Reiche School Playground under the tent.
