The FEMA Vaccination Mobile Unit Will be Located in the Parking Lot Behind Rising Tide Brewing Company, 103 Fox Street for Four Days, Starting June 10th.

This afternoon the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) staff was setting up the infrastructure for a vaccination clinic that starts tomorrow, Thursday, June 10th and runs through Sunday, June 13th on the East End of Portland; between 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.  The J & J clinic, a one shot vaccination, will be held in the parking lot behind Rising Tide Brewing Company, at 103 Fox Street for anyone who is 18 years old or older.

The state of Maine asked FEMA to assist in delivering shots to the rural areas of the northern part of the state with less access to vaccination centers in the state.  FEMA’s one mobile unit shown in the above photograph has already made eight stops in this endeavor that began on April 9, 2021 according to Patrick Boland, media relations for FEMA.

Following this four day stop in Portland, the mobile unit will move on to Old Orchard Beach for its tenth and final stop on the vaccination circuit.  That clinic will run from June 14th – 18th at 170 Miliken Avenue.  It is anticipated that between 9,500 and 10,000 people will be vaccinated by the FEMA mobile unit.

“Often we find that people who have been reluctant to get a shot change their minds when they come to one of our mobile unit clinics,” said Bobby Posick, of FEMA.  “I don’t know why I was so reluctant to get one,” many end up saying said Posick.
