Join the La Marcha De La Puebla in Portland on Friday, August 1 – it starts at Congress Square Park.

“Due Process” a Constitutional Right of All in the US Has Been Illegally Denied by the Trump Administration.
You are invited to join in a show of solidarity with immigrants and their families on Friday, August 1st at 10:30 am. Portland residents will gather at Congress Square Park, 593 Congress Stree, to participate in La Marcha De La Puebla, a national march and peaceful protest to show solidarity with immigrant communities. At 11:00 am., participants will march on the sidewalk toward City Hall where there will be speeches promoting safety, dignity and justice for all immigrants.
This action is part of a nationwide movement organized by La Cultura Del Mundo, a grassroots, youth-led collective based in Santa Maria, California. La Marcha De La Puebla is the beginning of a movement being cordinated with dozens of cities across the US to raise awareness to the lives of immigrants who are being targeted in every community. The March will challenge the climae of fear created by rising reports of disappearances and detentions being carried out by US Immigrants and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and by individuals allegedly acting as an unlcensed bounty humters. Portland’s March is being organized by members of the General Strike US Maine Chapter.
While federal authorities deny formal relationships with bounty hunters, numerous credible reports have come out with immigrants being forcibly detained by masked or unidentifiable individuals, many without warrants or proper legal process. These actions have created a climate of fear with immigrants, their families, friends and even US citizens who have become afraid to speak out against the madness out of fear for their own safety. There have even been reports of US citizens being detained by these masked individuas. On August 1st, we will unite as a nation to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
La Marcha De La Puebla will be a peaceful, family friendly action that all are welcome to attend. Community members are encouraged to: Bring signs and banners that show support for immigrant families and call for an end to these inhumane detentions; wear brightly colored clothing to reflect units, joy and cultural pride; and march peacefully, respectfully and in solidarity with those being directly impacted. PLEASE STAY ON THE SIDEWALKS!
The March is open to all allies, immigrant families, activists, and community members in order to stand united against fear-mongering, unjust detentions and to demand dignity for those being targeted.
“Meanwhile Trump’s approval ratings are in free-fall. People think he has gone way too far on how he is managing deportation in his administration. Other polls are under water as well. At the bottom of his poll ratings is his handling of the Epstein files,” said this blogger. “The Epstein files are the last subject that Trump wants to talk about. That’s why he is talking about a wide range of other subjects – just not about Epstein!”
