On Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 7:30 pm., Portland Police responded to the intersection of Franklin and Congress Streets for a motor vehicle and pedestrian crash.

Sixty-six year old Cynthia Karst of Ridgefield, Connecticut, was crosing Franklin Street at the intersection of Congress Street when she was struck by a car driven by a 36 year old male from POrtland.  Karst was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident reconstruction team was called in to investigate and no charges have been filed at this time.
