You are invited to attend Creative Portland’s art opening of its third juried exhibition, ON THE VERGE, on Wednesday, October 24th .  It runs from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm at 84 Free Street, Portland.  The finalist for the show will be announced at this event. Over 20 artists have been selected for Creative Portland’s  upcoming juried art exhibit, ON THE VERGE, which will open on Thursday, October 25, 2018.  The exhibit runs through April 2019 – Monday – Friday, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

The group show, representing established and emerging artists from Greater Portland, will feature paintings, photography, prints, drawings and mixed-media work.  For Creative Portland’s third juried exhibition, Executive Director Dinah Minot, assembled a volunteer curatorial team of professionals, recruiting a stellar group of curators from arts organizations including: Kate Anker, Jamie DeSimone, Cooper Dragonette, Michael Droge, Danielle Frye, Jan McDermott, Dinah Minot and John Reipon.

The eclectic group of exhibitors, including old Mainers and new Mainers alike, range from emerging artists in their 20’s to established artists from Greater Portland.    Artists come from Biddeford, Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland Center, Falmouth Portland, South Portland and Westbrook.

All art work will be for sale and the exhibit will be open to the public for a six month period, Monday – Friday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. through mid-April 2019.  A pubic First Friday Art Walk opening will be held on Friday, November 2nd from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

Over 100 artists with at least 225 submissions answered the call from Dinah Minot with images ranging from abstract paintings, representational scenes and explicit photographs.  As the city of Portland’s official nonprofit arts agency, Creative Portland’s mission is to support the creative economy through the arts by providing essential resources, by fostering partnerships and by marketing our city’s artists and cultural assets.
