Trayvon Martin

The public is invited to attend a rally and memorial service for Trayvon Martin at 5 pm this afternoon at Portland Monument Square.  It’s an opportunity to honor the memor of Trayvon Martin and to call for an end to violene in Maine and around the country.

Rachel Talbor Ross will welome the crowd.  Both Mayor Michael Brennan and Police Chief Michael Sauschuck will be among the speakers.

This event follows the numerous cities across the country who held commerations for the slain black teenager Tayvon Martin over the weekend.  The commerations happened one week following the acquittal of George Zimmerman for the killing of Martin in Florida.
