Card’s Death by Suicide Confirmed by Governor at Press Conference This Evening

“I stand before you tonight to report that Maine State Police have located the body of Robert Card in Lisbon.  He is dead.  I called President Biden to inform him about this news and I also informed the Maine Congressional Delegation,” announced Governor Janet T. Mills (D) at a press conference held this evening in Lewiston at 10:00 pm.

The Governor added that “llke many people,  I breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Robert Card no longer is a threat to anyone else.  I know there are many people who share that sentiment…..Robert Card is dead.”

The Police Chief of Lewiston, David St. Pierre, spoke briefly and thanked everyone for their work. although there is more to do.  “I’m relieved that he is no longer a threat to Mainers.  This is the best news we have had in quite some time,” he said.

“I wanted to make sure we got this information out in more detail,” said Commissioner Michael Sauschuck.  He spoke to the families of the victims as well as the family of Card before holding  tonight’s press conference.  Card’s body was found at 7:45 pm by the River in Lisbn Falls by a member of the Maine State Police.  The shelter-in-place order has been lifted tomorrow in Lewiston, Lisbon, Monmouth and Bowdoin Sauschuck announced. This will enable hunters to participate in full on the first day of hunting season.

A press conference will be held tomorrow Saturday, October 28, at 10:00 an,  More details on Card’s death and related matters will be available at that time.
