Walmart is Located on Route 1 in Falmouth. Make an Online Appointment for Shots is Highly Recommended But Not Required.  Some Walk-ins are Taken on Occasion.

“We do have vaccines for all three infections,” said Andrew Closson, Pharmacy Manager, at the Walmart Pharmacy, on Route 1 in Falmouth. It was at the end of a  hectic day when Closson said that the popular pharmacy had given 125 injections today.  The number was so high – higher than an average day of 90 to 93 patrons –  because it was a planned walk-in clilnic.  The clinic opened this morning at 9:00 am and by 8:30 am a  long line had formed at the pharmacy of people wanting to get COVID and flu shots and some RSV shots as well.

It seems as though the demand for Moderna COVID shots is down a litle bit from previous years for those under 40 years old.  But for the older age group, those over 40, there is still a strong demand for COVID shots Closson said emphatically.

“COVID is very widespread.  It’s everywhere.  There have been significant increases or “clusters” of COVID in communities surrounding Portland,” Closson said.  Towns like Falmouth and Yarmouth have experienced significant increases in cases of COVID from time to time.`

Walmart received its first supply of vaccines in the third week of September – just last month.  The vaccine came out slowly initially forcing people to wait a while to get their shots. “Distribution of the vaccines were slow and I don’t know why,,” he said.  That slowness in distribution may have given some the impression that there is a shortage of the vaccines.  Not so.

Closson recommends that people make an appointment on-line to get vaccinated.  Or if you need assistance with that, the staff pharmacy will assist you.
