A Cool & Calm VP Kamala Harris Buried Trump in the Debate Last Night .

The speculation is over: which Donald Trump would show up at the first showdown of the 2024 election season last night. Would it be the old, insecure, lying, racst Trump or would it be a kinder and gentler edition of the same indicted felon?.
Initially, VP Harris described her Opportunity Economy agenda to rebuild the middle class that Trump has worked to destroy through his catering to the wealthy class by tax cuts for its members. Her plan includes a child tax credit in the amout of $6,000., a subsidy to help first time home owners, an effort to stop the price gouging in the food industry at groacery stores, and assistance in the form of tax cuts for small businesses. Trump’s response was to rail against immigrants who are “destroying” our country ad nauseum.
VP Harris accused Trump of raising taxes on the middle-class through his 2025 project to institute tariffs. What is not understoodd by most is that residents of the US would end up paying that tax – not the country being tariffed.
It wasn’t very long into the 90 minute showdown in which the $64,000 question was answered. That’s because a confident and smart VP Kamala Harris got under the thin skin of Trump and had him on the ropes – in a manner of speaking. She pushed his tiny buttons and he took the bait responding absurdly and often with unbelievable lies at other times.
Noteworthy was his claim that Haitians in the small city of Springfield, Ohio were stealing neighbors cats and dogs and eating them. Yes, Trump said that on the showdown stage. When asked for evidence of this, Trump said” “I saw it on television.” However, the Springfield city manager issued a statement stating: “there is no evidence of any cats or dogs or other pets being harmed or eaten by Haitian immigrants ” in the area. A fact that ABC showdown moderator Daivd Muir referenced at the end of Trump’s truly remarkable remark. In fact anchor David Muir did a good job of “outing” Trump with follow-up questions and fact checkig – unlike other past modrators..
When VP Harris told Trump that World Leaders she has spoken to “are laughing” at Trump, he shot back that President Biden really hates her. The VIce President said that if Trump were re-elected Putin would be sitting in Kyiv the capital of Ukraine today. “Putin is a dictator who would eat you up,” she told Trump. Trump refused to say that he thought Ukraine should win its illegal war with Russia when asked specifically about his view on the subject. Trump called out Viktor M. Urban, dictaator of Hungry as a “great leader” to the shock of any one who prefers democracy to autocracy. Urban has allegedly visited Trump at his Florida estate. VP Harris had Trump on the defensive most of the showdown.
Trump refused to commit that, as President, he would not sign a national ban on abortions. He has backpedaled on the subject in recent days because he has figured out that his opposition to abortion and the horrific examples of what women are enduring because of his position, is hurting him in the upcoming election. At tims, he has tried, unsuccessfully, to de-emphasize the importance of his anti-abortion position in the upcoming election. However, on the scale from 1 to 10 of absurd claims, Trump claimed that Democrats favor after birth abortions – murder – something he apparently saw on a television show as well. That lie was off the scale was an obvious effort to distract voters from his unpopular anti-abortion stance and the negative consequences as a result.
When the Vice Presient charged that Trump and his allies wanted to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, Trump said he would like to get rid of it and replace it with a new plan. When he was asked for details of the replacement plan, he said he had a “concepts of a plan” in mind for a replacement that would be cheaper than the current plan. “We will release that plan in several weeks,” he lied again.
A particular sensitivve subject for Trump during this campaign and previous ones has been the size of the crowds at his rallies. “I’d like to invite you to attend a Trump rally,” said VP Harris, ‘It’s an interesting experience. She said that people are leaving his rallies early out of “exhaustion and boredom.” This launched a response from Trump that no one attends her rallies. His obsession with the size of his crowds took over showcasing his focus on himself rather than on “you” VP Harris told the public.
Ever since Vice Presient Kamala Harris replaced President Biden on the Democratic ticket, Trump and JD Vance have struggled on how to make personal attacks on this Dream Team stick.. The less successful Trump and JD are at it, the more desparate they become. In recent days, Trump has appeared unhinged and lashed out at the Democratic ticket – too often showcasing his mental decline. For many there was no question as to which Trump would show up for the showdown last night. He is who he is: an old, insecure, lying, racist who should never be allowd on the grounds of the White House again.
Taylor Swit’s ringing endorrsement of the Harris-Walz ticket 27 minutes following the end of the showdown was the final blow to the DOA performance of Trump. That endorsement from the celebraty came around 11;00 PM last night and it was also in that thoughtful statement that she admitted to being a “childless cat lady.” That was a reference to the insults of Trump’s running mate for Vice Presient JD Vance toward single and/or chidlress women. When the statement was read aloud to Governor Walz who was interviewed on MSNBC cable news, he greeted it with with grace and dignity as he would.
Will there be a second televised showdown? Not if Trump is smart, but………………… It’s been reported that 70 million people watdched the showdown.
