Fire Department Chief Keith Gautreau in 2023, at the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony.

The city of Portland officials along with the Portland Fire Department and the Portland Police Department will come together on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 8:30 am for the annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial at Fort Allen Park on the Eastern Promenade on Munjoy Hill.

Fire Chief Keith Gautreau and Police Chief Mark DuBois will participate in a wreath laying ceremony followed by a moment of silence at 8:46 am to mark the 23rd anniversary of the terriorist attack at the World Trade Center in New York City.

The Memorial is located in between the Ft. Allen Park Bandstand and Portland House (highrise) on the Eastern Promenade.

This is the last year that Fire Department Chief Keith Gautreau will participate in the annual Remembrance Ceremony at Ft. Allen Park.  He recently announced that he will be retiring from the Fire Department by the end of this year.  He has been chief since 2018.
