The Green Memorial Church, 46 Sheridan Street, on Munjoy Hill Has Become c Alearing House for Votter Registration Inforxmation for the November 5, 2024 Election.
Green Memorial Church, 46 Sheridan Street, has always been an important part of the community on Munjoy HIll.
This year the church has taken on a new responsibility – it is serving as a clearing house for new voters who need information on how to register to vote in the upcoming November 2024 presidential election.
On Saturday, September 28th, Howard Robinson and Stephanie Cotsirilos, ran a very successful three hour workshop in which members of the public were invited to attend. Packets with detailed handouts on voter registration were available. Among the handouts in the packet was one on “Eligibility and Documents for Registrating to Vote,” “A Maine Voter’s Bill of Rights” & “Maines Elections are Secure,” all material designed to inform non-voters of the process involved in registrating to vote on November 5, 2024.
At least ten church volunteers are currently informing members of the community about non-partisan registration in order to vote said Howard Robinson, a retired AT&T employee and a long-time member of the church.
If you missed the workshop last Saturday, you can still get the information you need by stoppping by the church following the Sunday service between 12:30 – 1:30 pm. “We intend to continue this voter registration drive and get the word out until right up to November 5, 2024,” said Stephanie Costirilos, an attorney with some experience in the field and a long-time member of the church as well. Both are Portland residents.
