Today, as we approach the anniversary of the Dobbs decision, Planned Parenthood Action Fund is announcing its endorsement of Graham Platner for Senate.
In the four years since the Supreme Court ended the federal right to an abortion, the Trump administratdion and its backers in Congress and the states have repeatedly weaponized Dobbs and attacked reproductive health care. Twenty states have banned some or all abortion across the country. Congress passed a law aiming to bar Medicaid patients from using their insurance at Planned Parenthood health centers. And right now, the Trump administation is trying to roll back patients’ access to mifepritone, while some in Congress are calling to permanently “defund” Planned Parenthood.
Graham Platner will be a chamption for sexual and reproductive health care and rights, including keeping politicans out of people’s personal medical decisions and protecing patients’ access to essential reproductive care, including birth control, cancer screenings, IVF, and abortion care.
As the assault on sexual and reproductive health care continues, Senator Susan Collins’s deciding vote to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh reminds us exactly why voters must elect someone like Graham Platner, who will fight for our rights and our bodies.
“President Trump and his allies are using every level of power at their disposal to make it harder for people to get the care they need, including by attempting to permanently ‘defund’ Planned Parenthood. Mainers deserve a senator they can trust to have their backs at every turn. It is clear that is not Susan Collins,” said Planned Parenthood Action Fund President CEO Alexis MGill Johnson. “We know we can count on Graham Platner to fight for everyone to get the essential life-saving care they need as part of a pro-reproductive rights Senate majority. With care on the line for milions of people, Planned Parenthood Action Fund is endorsing Graham’s candidacy for Senate.”
