“We did okay,” said a joking Governor Tim Waltz at the outset  of his concession speech in St. Paul, Minnesota, late this afternoon.

The Governor thanked all those who contributed to the recent campaign with  special thanks to VP Kamala Harris for her “powerful and joyful” campaign of which he was a member.

It’s was hard to loose this election the Governor said.  He added that he could not understand why voters chose to vote for the other path.  He said he understood if supporters of the Harris-Walz ticket felt “deflated.” But when you are over that, get back into the fight and he will be there with you in that struggle.

The Governor said that in the course of his travels across the country he learned that what people want is “security”  built on a “solid foundation,”  People want the freedom to live as they want to not based on your wealth or who you are.

His travels also have given the Gpvermpr and First Lady Gwen an opportunity to tell people that “together we have made Minnesota one of the best places for kids” to call home..  “Where is this magical place?” people ask the Governor,  The First Couple of Minnesota has two children; Hope and Gus.

People are worried about what is coming down the “pike.”  with this: leave it to the states” movement he said.  “The minute they try to bring a hateful agenda here, I will stand up for what we believe in.”

Governor Walz ticked off a number of issues that are on his agenda to defend; women’s rghts, climate change, democracy, the right of kids to attend school in a safe environment  and to not tolerate the demonization of people with whom we disagree, the labor movement. and the right to safe free speech.

“Together we will make Minnesota a role model for the rest of the country,” said Governor Tim Walz in his final words.
