Tomorrow, Monday, June 16, 2025, Governor Janet T. Mills and Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey will convene a summit of Northeast Governors and Canadian Premiers on how American and Canadian leaders can work together to maintain strong economic and cultural relations, amid economic uncertainity stemming from Federal tariff policy and challenging rhetoric from Washington, DC.
In the morning, the Northeastern Governors, Premiers and state and provincal representatives will participate in discussions at the Mass State House, Beacon Street, focused on opportunities to partner on energy, trade, tourism and manufacturing. These conversations will be closed to the press.
At 12:00 noon, the Governors and Premiers will participate in a moderated discussion open to the press to discuss the impacts of the tariffs and opportunities for partnership and participate in a moderated discussion open to the press to discuss the impacts of the tariffs and opportunities for partnership that they identified during the convening.
In addition to Governors Mills and Healy, other Governors in attendance will be: Kathy Hochul, New York; Dan McKee, Rhode Island; Phil Scott, Vermont; and 5 Canadian Premiers.
