During a 1957 speech in Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said:   “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is:   “What are you doing for others?  As we observe Dr. Martin Luther KIng, Jr. Day – the only federal holiday designated as a Day of Service – let us each reflect on how we can better serve our families, our neighbors and our communities.  May we all renew our commitent to building a state and nation grounded in shared responsibility and to expanding justice, equality and fairness for all people,” said Governor Janet T. MIlls (D) in a press release issued.this morning.
