Governor Janet T. Mills (D-ME) has signed into law LD 210, the budget bill enacted by the Legislature on June 18 to fund programs and activities of State government over the next biennium. LD 210 will take effect 90 days after the adjournment of this legislative session according to a press release issued from the Governor’s office this morning.
The Governor issued the following statement:
“Earlier this year, I proposed a balanced, fiscally responsible budget that prioritized keepig the State’s key promise to Maine people. At the same time, with so much uncertainity coming from Washingto and so much uncertanity in our economy, maintaining fiscal restraint has never been more important. The budget bill enacted by the Legislature, like all lawmaking, is the product of various tradeoffs and compromises. Although I might not agree with every single provision, I appreciate the diligence and hard work of the Appropriations Committee to produce this bill, which makes important investments in Maine families, children and seniors, our higher education institutions, housing and more.”
It was noted on June 20, 2025, that Governor Mills is leaving today for a trip to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to promote Maine as a destination for Canadians. She will return to Maine on Thursday.
