Governor Mills Attends National Governors’ Association 2023 Annual Meeting in Atlantic City

Governor Janet T. Mills (D), the first woman Governor of Maine, is attending the 2023 Annual Meeting of the National Governors Association (NGA) in Atlantic City, New Jersey today Thursday, July 13 – Friday, July 14, 2023.

Governors attending the meeting will join federal officials and leaders from business, academia and philanthropy for bipartisan coversations around top issues in states, communities and territories  Public sessions will focus on strengthening youth mental health, preparig for and responding to disasters and public health crises and how government can accelerate infrastructure projects.

While in Atlantic City, governors will meet with First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to highlight the importance of investing in workforce training programs that are preparing high school and community college students for good-paying jobs.  The historic budget signed into law by Governor Mills on Tuesday continues the successfl Free Community College initiative proposed by Governor Mills last year.

Founded in 1908, the NGA is the voice of the nations’ governors.  Maine rejoined the NGA when Governor Mills took office and hosted the organization’s Summer Meeting in Portland last July.
