First Annual East Bayside Trail Fest Hosted by Portland Trails; June 22nd

You are invited to participate in the First Annual East Bayside Trail Fest on Sunday, June 22nd  This inaugural event located in the heart of Portland’s East Bayside neighborhood is presented by Kennebec Savings Bank.

It features three (3) events:

The TRAIL TO ALE 10K, presented by Martin’s Point Health Care, is a revival of Portland’s long-running and popular 10K race, now with an updated course, 9:15 am – 11:30 am;

The BAYSIDE RIDE, presented by Mann Law, is a 15K and 30-mile casual group bike ride along the coast hosted by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, 9:00 am and;

The TRAIL MIX 2-MILER presented by Martin’s PoInt Health Care, is a family-friendly two-mile fun run and walk, 9:30 am – 11:00 am.

All events will culminate in a celebration on Diamond Street in East Bayside.  The Street will be closed and feature music from 107.9WJZ, delicious food, local beer, spirits, and cider from neighborhood restaurants and breweries.

“We’re so excited to bring this one-of-a kind event to the East Bayside neighborhood,” said Jon Kachmar, Executive Director of Portland Trails.  Portland Trails is lucky to be part of such a vibrant community of restaurants, breweries, retail stores, nonprofits and residents.  In planning the Trail Fest, we’re collaborating with local businesses and partners to create an event that raises money for our organization and brings economic activity to the neighborhood.”

“The Bicycle Coalition of Maine is excited to partner with our office mates, Portland Trails, and compliment this event with the Bayside Ride,” said Dan Bassett, Director of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine.  “We chose the route for the scenic views and joyful ride along one of the prettiest parts of southern Maine  We hope that this will be an annual event that bikers in Maine look forward to every year.”

The East Bayside Trail Fest is Portland Trails’ largest fundraising event of the year and arrives on the heels ot a new five-year impact plan.  Proceeds from this event will support projects and programs that will expand the regional trail network, foster diverse community partnerships, invest in climate-resilient infrastructure and sustainably grow the organization.

The Bicycle Coalition of Maine is hosting the Bayside Ride portion of the Trail Fest and all proceeds from this event will directly support its work.  A close partner of Portland Trails, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine makes Maine a better and safer place to bike, work and roll.

Registration for the Trail to Ale 10K and the Bicycle Ride is $50. per person and includes two free post-rae beverages and discounts to local businesses.  Registration for the Trail Mix 2-Miler, is $15. per person, or $12.50 per person when you register four (4) or more participants.  There is a small sign up fee and some registration prices go up just before the event.  The Trail to Ale 10K is the only event that will be timed.
