On Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 9:16 pm., Portland Police responded to 5 Portland Street (Elena’s Way) for a report of a stabbing.  A 56 year old man had been approached from behind before suffering a slashing wound to the base of his skull.  After a brief investigation, police arrested Jay Larose, 57 and homeless, charging him with Elevated Aggravated Assault.

The victim was transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
