The Demolition of a Rental Townhouse that is Part of the Island View Apartments Began This Morning.

Early this morning the demolition of 117-119 North Street, a rental townhouse part of the Island View Apartments, began.  It is expected to take a few days in order to clear the lot and haul away the rubbish from the demolition.  This demolition will make way for the construction of a replacement building.

On the morning of January 29, 2022, Portland firefighters responded to a 3-alarm fire on North Street on Munjoy Hill which was believed at the time to have started in a garage.  Five people were sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation related problems.
