“The Lonely Passions of a Winter’s Night,” a new play by Paul Dervis, and produced by Storm Warnings Repertory Theatre, can be enjoyed during its final weekend starting tomorrow, Friday, March 4 through Sunday afternoon at the Portland Media Center, 516 Congress Street, in downtown Portland.

In “The Lonely Passions of a Winter’s Night,” a high-powered academic is invited on a world cruise by her estranged  husband….it’s a startling offer that she surprises herself by accepting.  For three months on the high seas, she comes face-to-face with the lost dreams that threaten her future aspirations, and rediscovers the passion buried inside her that she never truly abandoned.  The play stars Elizabeth Freeman, with Anna Gravel and Michael Solak rounding out the cast.  Elizabeth Freeman and Paul Dervis are the directors.

This production is the first fully staged offering of the Storm Warnings Repretory Theatre following a two year pause because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The play was originally scheduled to open March 27, 2020 when the theatre was shut down along with many others all over the country.  Storm Warnings has not opened its doors to an in person production until now and “we are thrilled to make this production accessible to everyon” according to a press relese issued by Elizabeth Freeman of Storm Warnings.

COVID-19 safety is a priority for Storm Warnings.  All attendees will be asked to show their COVID vaccination cards and wear a mask while inside the building.

In recognition that the pandemic has been difficult for everyone, this weekends’ performances are “pay-what-you-can.”  Show dates are Friday, March 4th at 8:00 pm., Saturday, March 5th at 8:00 pm and Sunday, March 6th at 5:00 pm.  Please visit stormwarningstheatre@gmail.com for ticketing information.
