You are invited to attend a celebration of the completion of Portland’s elementary school buildings renovation projects at Presumpscot, Longfellow and Reiche schools. The celebration is slated for Saturday, September 21st.
Ribbon cutting ceremonies will take place at each school following remarks by school, city officials and members of the community. The ribbon cutting celebration begins at Presumpscot School at 10:00 am., at Longfellow School at 11:00 am., and at Reiche School at noon.
While the District received certification of completion for the three elementary schools last year, new furniture didn’t arrive until over the summer. The September 21 celebrations will now mark an official recognition of the completed renovations at the three elementary schools.
Following the ribbon cutting, attendees can tour the renovated schools and enjoy the celebratory activiies at each school.
“We can all be proud of what our community has created through the Buildings for Our Future initiative,” said Superintendent Ryan Scallon in part. “These buildings provide our students with the 21st century learning environment they desire and need to succeed….”
In 2017, city voters approved a $64 million Buildings for Our Future bond for the renovations.
