Governor GavinNewsom (D) of California, Has Urged Trump to Rescind its Illegal Order to Call in the National Guard, and Possibly the Marines.

CF Trump Stumbles as he Climbs the Steps to Air Force 1 – Perhaps Symbolic of His Presidency so Far. Stumble After Stumble.,,,,,,,,
It was announced today that the state of Calfornia has sued the Trump administration over its illegal deployment of National Guard troops in Los Angeles over the weekend. Convicted Felon Trump brought in the National Guard over the objections of Governor Gavin Newsom rather than with the approval of the Governor. Governor Newsom in the last several days has urged CF Trump not to take that incendiary action. The Governor and other California officials have accused CF of “manufacturing a crisis” so he could call in the National Guard and perhaps even the US Marines. Seven hundred Marines have been “mobilized” to support the National Guard according to cable news reports this afternoon.
CF has cited a statute that gives him the authority to call in troops when there is a rebellion. It does not require the approval of Governor Gavin Newsom. But, there is no rebellion; it started out as a peaceful demonstration.
Last night on a MSNBC cable news interview, Governor Newsom said that his AG would be filing a lawsuit today. Some critics of CF believe that this move of his is more then about immigration issues. It’s a typical playbook of his to distract from his childish public break from Elon Musk, the legislative trouble that his “BIg Beautiful Bill” is in – in the US Senate, his unsuccessful trade wars, his failure to end the Ukranian war, his failure to reduce inflratdion, etc. etc. More significantly, it is an effort of the President to test his powers by trying to expand them here.
The lawsuit says that CF has overreached his authority by sending in the National Guard over the weekend because there is no actual rebellion as would be required. This is a protest, but not a rebellion. The lawsuit called CF’s Order “illegal” and “Orewellian.”
As usual Senator Susan Collilns (R) is not available for comment on this development. Two phone calls today to her Washington, DC office went unanswered as no staff member picked up the telephone from this blogger. The spinless Senator runs when situations get tough. If you would like to try your luck at getting through to a staff member of hers, the Senator’s DC office number is: 202-224-2523.
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.
