CF Trump Stumbles as he Climbs the Steps to Air Force 1 Recently – Perhaps Symbolic of His Presidency so Far. Stumble, Stumble………….
California Attorney General Rob Bonta has filed a request for an emergency “temporary restraining order” today. That is because the judge in the matter has denied the state’s request for immediate relief that was filed yesterday. Rather, he has set a hearing on the matter for Thursday, June 12th.
Meanwhlle, the ACLU is asking the public to contact members of Congress demanding they call on the Trump administration to withdraw the military from Los Angeles and rescind the deployment order.
“President Trump is trying to write himself a blank check to use the mililtary to stifle dissent and scare us into silence. It’s unnecessary, it’s dangerour and it’s wrong. We must act before more harm is done,” said the message from the ACLU issued today.
One repsected cable news anchor has stated that this order by Trump is because he is really scared – scared that his agenda has so far failed miserably – partially because the courts are ruling against him and his popularity is on a downward spiral. This expensive and illegal deployment of US military is an overaction to his ego. It’s expected to cost $134 million to finance.
This blogger tried several times this afternoon to reach the Washington DC office of Senator Susan Collins (R) to ask her to use her influence to ask the President to rescind his illegal order. As is usual these days, it was not possible to penetrate the barrier that protects the Senator’s staff from accepting incoming public calls. If you get through to her staff, ask her to ask the hypocritcal Senator to help working families, not hurt them. If you want to try your luck on gettng through, the Senator’s DC office number is 202-224-2523. This is not a toll number.
A curfew has been announced beginning at 8:00 pm – 6:00 am this evening for downtown LA only for the next several days according to Mayor Karen Bass. That amounts to only one square mile in the city. It is to prevent any looting and vandalism.
UPDATED: Late this afternoon, the judge denied the “emergency” request that the California AG filed today. The judge said that the matter could wait until the hearing scheduled for Thursday.
