Governor Gavin Newsome (D) of California Delivered a Blistering Critique of Trump’s Illegal Assault on Our Democracy Around 9:30 PM This Evening.

Governor Gavin Newsom (D) of California delivered a blistering critique on the overreach  of President Trump to escalate an otherwise peaceful demonstration so he could illegally call in the National Guard and the US Marines to quell the peaceful demonstration – a situation that LA PD is uniquely trained and experienced to handle..

In the 12 minute address that began about 9:30 pm to Los Angeles and the nation, the Governor began with:  “This is different from what we have ever seen.”  He cited several cases of  vulnerable people, a child and a pregnant woman, being abducted by ICE officers that sparked demonstrations in downtown Portland.  He accused Trump of creating a “combustible situation” and “fanning the flames on purpose”  in order to declare it necessary to bring in the military – all “without consulting the Governor” as is required by the constitution.  The Governor said that 220 people have been arrested.  “They will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

The Governor accused President Trump of creating a “military dragnet” across the city.  The arrests are “more out of weakness.  They have created trauma and that seems to be the entire point the Governor said.  If some of us can be snatched off the streets based on our skin color, none of us is safe.  The President has gone after our culture, history, universities, law firms and judicial leaders,” the Governor said.  He referred to the June  14th “vulgar display to celebrate his birthday – like other dictators.”

“This is about all of us.  It will not end here.  You will be next.  He is bringing a wrecking ball to our constitution.  Where is Congress?” he asked.  “It is time for all of us to stand up………..Use your first amendment rights, but do it peacefully,” he urged.  “He wants your feality.  But do not give it to him.  Other states will be next,” the Governor warned.

Marines from Twenty-Nine Palms in California are expected to arrive in LA tomorrow morning.
