Craig Rodenhiser, Owner of the Cobblestones, 15 Monument Square

The large, red Henry VIII’s restaurant sign still hangs on the outside of the  building at 15 Monument Square –  overshadowing the smaller sign in the lower left corner of the same  window;  COBBLESTONES.    That’s the name of a new sandwich shop which enjoyed a soft opening yesterday – Memorial Day.

Craig Rodenhiser, owner and chef of Cobblestones said that he’s working on getting the Henry VIII’s  removed, but it will still be a few days.  Henry’s closed  business on April 1. Rodenhiser saw the space was for rent on Craig’s list and put a down payment on the space days thereafter.  Since then, he and his staff Derek and Desiree, have  cleaned the space, painted  and replaced tiles, and installed new  equipment.  Some of their opening day yesterday was spent trying to learn the ins and outs of a new cash register bought for the new business. Feining total frustration while good naturedly working on  the register, MHN.com enjoyed a sumptous turkey sandwich from one of the 22 inside seats – and was able to see the good natured relationship among the three.

The wide array of sandwiches, numerous home-made soups and salads are listed on blackboards on the wall above the seating.  There are various combinations of the three that are appealing.   The service is fast, friendly and ready to accommodate customers.

Rodenhiser’s  hobby is photography and there are three stunning, large photographs of cobblestones he took from all over the city mounted inside the shop.  

Small brownies are yummy too!

Cobblestones is open weekdays between 10 am – 7 pm.  On Saturday, from 10 am – 2 pm.  Hours may vary on Saturdays according to business.
