Customers on the Portland peninsula (Munjoy Hill, Old Port and the West End) can now use their tap water for all purposes according to a press release issued by the Portland Water District this morning. The Order was lifted as of 8:45 am today. All water tests indicate the water is safe to drink without boiling.
On Wednesday, December 19, a boil order advisory was issued to customers on the Portland peninsula because of a water main break on Somerset Street. The order was issued to protect public health due to the potential for contamination.
If you have any questions or concerns abouat your water, please contact Portland Water District customter service at 761-8310.
Please see prior posts for more background information on the water main break that caused the Order.
