First Parish Church, 425 Congress Street, Portland, is the Location of the annual Performance of the “Pageant of the Nativity” This Sunday, December 15th at 5:00 pm..
The 98th annual presentation of the “Pageant of the Nativity” is scheduled for this Sunday, December 15 at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist, 425 Congress Street, at 5:00 pm, in Portland.
The first performance was back in 1926 and some of the costumes used in this once a year production date back to that original production. The costumes were brought back to the US from the Holy Lands by the nieces of the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The performance combines choral music, organ music and narrative with a large cast of volunteers playing roles based on the 15th century Fra Angelico. He was an Italian painter known for his frescos with a religious theme.
Admission is free and open to the community.
