The City of Portland has announced this afternoon that acting city manager Sheila Hill-Christian has resigned her post. She has accepted a comparable position in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her last day on the job in Portland will be Friday, May 8, 2015. She begins her new position on May 18, 2015.
“I have accepted the position of Acting City Manager for the City of Cincinnati, Ohio. I was approached with this opportunity and I have decided that it is a good fit for me personally and professionally at this time.” Christian write in a press release from Jessica Grondin, director of communications for Portland.
“We have learned that the new division of leadership powers and duties under the revised Charter is somewhat unclear. Mayor Brennan could do much more to make sure that someone with the skills and talent of Sheila Hill-Christian would find an upper management position with the City of Portland more rewarding,” said Councilor Jon Hinck of Hill-Christian’s resignation in an email today.
The City will appoint a new acting city manager at a future Council meeting. The City is currently in the midst of a search for a new city manager
