Up and down the east coast cities are watching their winter snow removal budgets evaporate with the record setting season some have had so far.  Here in Portland, the city has expended about 40% of its winter storm operations budget and used approximately 3,500 tons of salt said Nicole Clegg, director of communications for the city, several days ago.  “This budget has helped us address six storm events.”  So far!

To avoid having your vehicle towed during this winter season, remember that residents and visitors to the city can sign up online at portlandmaine.gov to receive email notices from the city when a city-wide parking ban is implemented. (Click on parking ban.)  People can call the parking ban hotline at 879-0300 or check the time and temperature sign for up-to-date postings.
