Expo Building on Park Avenue Where a COVID-19 Vaccination Center will Open Tuesday, March 2nd. Volunteers Are Sought.

Northern Light Mercy Hospital, which is operating the community vaccination clinic at the Portland Expo opening Tuesday, March 2, is seeking volunteers for a variety of roles, both clinical and non-clinical.  Please visit:  COVID.northernlighthealth.org/Volunteer/Register.

Following the announcement of the Clinic, we had an outpouring of requests from community members wanting to volunteer,” said Melissa Skakan, Northern Light Mercy Hospital vice president and local vaccination site operations lead.  “The volunteer registration system is now live and we thank everyone who is planning to give some of their time to make a real difference in the health of their neighbors.”

The clinic is currently seeking volunteers to fill open shifts in a variety of clinical and non-clinical roles, including COVID symptom screeners, line traffic managers, appointment validations, check-in staff, clinical observers and more. Volunteer shifts range from 4 to 8 hours long and small groups can be accommodated if neighbors, colleagues, or friends are interested in volunteering together.

Community volunteers will need to register, complete a quick online orientation, and pass a background check.  Anyone with a clinical background will need to have an active license in good standing and provide their licensure information for verification.  All approved volunteers will receive the training and education necessary to serve in their assigned role.

After the registration application and review process is complete, volunteers will receive an email about how to review the upcoming clinics schedules and available volunteer positions through an online scheduling tool.

If you have questions about volunteering at the Clinic, please reach out to Katie Kerr, at:  northernlight.org or 207 – 879-3286.

Thank you.
