Clam Chowder With Plenty of Clams in it.

Bob’s Clam Hut opened less than a year ago and already it has become a neighborhood favorite. Last July it opened following an extensive rehab that left the building at 111 Cumberland Avenue on the East End of Portland barely recognizable. The seating is so much better than previously as well making it a comfortable place to stay and eat. The windows are large which allows light to filter in even on a snowy day like today.

One would not think it would be hard to find really good clam chowder in this city. Ever since enjoying my first cup there last July, this blogger knew there was no better clam chowder to be found around. Part of the reason it is so appealing it is thin and not like eating a pot of paste. It is: “Wonderful thin chowder. No Maine cooks make thick chowder at home,” said one Munjoy Hill resident who stopped in to enjoy a cup of chowder today sharing this blogger’s sentiment.
