“Most of our customers come from Portland. So with this new store at 10 Exchange Street, they won’t have to commute to Saco any more,” said Tina Giarratano today about the opening of her second bakery, Vincenza’s Italian Bakery, early next month. Tina expects to open up the Old Port bakery by mid-May, if not before.
Giarratano began the Saco bakery l l/2 years ago. Since that time, she has taken on two business partners. One is Ry Russell and the other is her mother, 71-year-old Judith Girratano. Her mother works more than six days a week baking at the Saco bakery. For many years, she managed a bakery in Pennsylvania. Russell, her other partner, is a business man in Saco, who has invested in the business.
Among the goodies to be baked on site are cookies and pastries; tiramisus, napoleons and pasiicotti are just some of the favorites she bakes. The new bakery at 10 Exchange Street will be open seven days a week from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm. – hopefullly as of May 1st.
