UPDATE: Maine Prosecutor Fired by Trump; Collins’ Comment Lacks Integrity

Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) Has Her Mouth Wide Open in This Photo, but Nothing is Coming out Because  of the Pressure Placed on Her by Musk.  She’s on a Short-Leash Much like Mayor Eric Adams of New York City.  “Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil” about Trump or You will Lose your Musk Funding for Your Next Senate Race.

Protests Against Trump-Musk  Happened  in Cities Large and Small Across the US Today, Including Augusta.  The Above Protest is in Washington, DC with the Capitol in the Background.

The top prosecutor in the state of Maine has been fired by the Trump administration it was announced today – a holiday with the assumption the firing would go unnoticed by a preoccupied public.

Darcie McElwee, a Caribou native, was sworn in as US attorney for the District of Maine on October 8, 2021 after serving as an assistant US attorney in the District of Maine.  Former President Joe Biden nominated McElwee to serve as US attorney for the District of Maine on August 10, 2021 and she was confirmed by the Senate on October 5, 2021.

She is a graduate of Bowdoin College and a 1998 graduate of the University of Maine School of Law.

“How is this firing going to reduce the cost of eggs and housing in Maine?” asks this blogger.  “So far Senator Collins has been mum on the firing of this Maine prosecutor despite an inquiry to her press person, Blake, in DC.  Maybe that’s because, like Mayor Adams of New York City, she is on a tight leash by Musk.  She doesn’t dare say a negative word about Convicted Felon Trump.  Because if she dares to, she will  lose the promised funding for her upcoming re-election to the Senate in 2026.

Both of  the Senator’s offices, Portland and DC, are closed today in observance of President’s Day.  The phone number for her Portland office is:  207 – 618 – 5560.  The phone number for her DC office is:  202 – 224-2523 if you want to let the Senator know what you think of her position.

UPDATE 2/18/25:  Because the Senator’s press person, Blake, has not responded to an inquiry from this blogger about the Senator’s position on the firing of Darcie McElwee by Trump, a telephone inquiry to her DC office this morning produced the following statement from a staffer on behalf of the Senator:  “Darcie McElwee served her country well for the District of Maine.  She has dedicated her career to keeping our state safe, advocating for victims of crime and upholding the law.  I am proud of the outstanding public service of my fellow Caribou native.”  Collins is a hypocrite.  Does she or does she not believe in “upholding the law?”   Proud but not proud enough to object to the prosecutor’s firing by Trump, apparently!
