The Childen’s Museum & Theatre of Maine and ROIL. Maine Inside Out, are scheduled to receive $150,000 each because of the pandemic. The two are part of a group of five Maine arts organizations impacted by the pandemic slated to receive the much-needed relief through the American Rescue Plan (ARP) passed by Congressional Democrats and signed into law by President Joe Biden last spring according to a press release issued by Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D) this morning. ROIL. Maine Inside Out is located in Cape Elizabeth.
“Arts organizations put their communities first throughout the pandemic by reducing performance schedules and undertaking costly public health measures. thanks to the historic American Rescue Plan, (ARP) cultural organizations across the country and in Maine are getting the crucial assistance they need. With it, they will have the tools necessary to continue enriching our lives and supporting Maine’s economy,” said Congresswoman Pingree.,co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional Arts Caucus and Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior and the Enviironment, which overseas funding for the National Endowment for the Arts. “In Maine, the arts are a $1.5 billion industry – that’s exactly why this is so critical to our state’e recovery and why I voted for the ARP.”
The other three Maine arts organizations to receive $150,000 as well are located in Kittery, Camden and Rockport.
(mhn.com wants to remind readers of this blog that no Republicans voted in support of the American Rescue Plan (ARP). That includes No Show Senator Susan Collins (R), although many Republicans like to mislead the public into thinking otherwise. Unfortunately, Collins marches to the orders of Dear Leader Mitch McConnell. That does not bode well for Mainers).
