A two-alarm fire was quickly extinguished in mid-afternoon today. The fire was at 41 Alder Street, in Bayside. The home had recently been renovated and a new tenant had just moved in.
The two-alarm fire was called because of the size of the fire and the heat of the day. It gave firemen a break from the intense work. The time and temperature sign behind the house at one time read 86 degrees. Fire trucks from all over the city of Portland were called to assist.
Haley Hinks, a new tenant in the building said she did not know what started the fire. She and her small dog escaped the fire without injuries – her small dog in her arms.
Firemen do not yet know the cause of the fire.
