Congress Square Park, 593 Congress Street, in the Arts District, is One of the Eleven Shuttle Locations for the Music Festival This Weekend.
The Back Cove Music Festival, presented by GoodWorks & Shore Sound Enterainment, is taking place today Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3rd at Payson Park in Portland. Neighborhood residents as well as concert goers should be aware of the following information related to road closures, parking and shuttles and access to other areas of Payrson Park according to iiformation provided by the city of Portland,
Baxter Boulevard will be closed fron Vannah Avenue to Bates Street starting today Saturday, 8/2 at approximately 8:00 am and closed until late evening Sunday, 8/3 when deemed safe to reopen by city staff.
Payson Park roads (Arboretum Road, Catafalque Drive and Inlet Road via Baxter Boulevard) will be closed for the duration of the Festival, Friday afternoon 8/1 to Monday 8/4 mid-day, until deemed safe by city staff. Neighborhood streets (West Kidder Street and Fernald Street) accessing Payson Park will be limited to residents only startig the evening of Friday, 8.1 until Monday morning 8/4 when deemed safe by city staff.
The organaizers have partnered with United Parking (UP) to provide parking in various lots and garages throughout downtown Portland; this is an arrangement between UP and the Festival organizers, so please contact them for more details. Parking rates may vary depending on location and operators. Numerous shuttle locations will be available as listed below Attendees will pay to park, but the shuttdle service itself will be at no cost. Organizers are paying for the shuttle service.
Parking and shuttles will be available at all school locations being utililzed and will be operated by city staff, Parking will be $15 at each location. Guests are able to utilizle the downtown shuttles regardless of where they are parked. Parking and the shuttle will be available at the USM parking garage located at 88 Bedford Street.
Shuttle Locations are: Lincoln Park, Congress Square Park, Casco Bay High School, Lyman Moore Middle School, Lyseth Elementary School, University of New England Bishop Parking Lot, Deering HIgh School, Lincoln Middle School, Ocean Avenue Elementary School, Longfellow Elementary School and the University of Southern Maine. The press release did not indicate how often and when the shuttles will be leaving the above locations.
Payson Park basketball courts and tennis courts will remain open to the public throughout the Festival weekend. The frisbee golf holes outside of the Festival footprint will remain usable over the weekend. The playground will remain open to the public until the opening of gates to the Festival at 12:00 pm. At that time, the playground will be part of the Festival grounds.
