Three Injured in Multi-vehicle Crash on Washington Avenue

On Monday, July 13, 2026 at approximaely 12:44 pm., Portland Police responded to the area of Washington Avenue and Byfield  Road for a report of a multi-vehicle crash.

The investigation determined that an 82 year old man was operating a dump truck swerved to avoid stopped traffic in front of him before swerving back to avoid oncoming traffic, resulting in a four-vehicle crash involving two dump trucks, a Toyota Tacoma and a Toyota Corolla.

The Tacoma was occupied by a 56-year-old woman and a 79-year-old woman, while the Corolla was operated by a 25-year-old man.  All three occupants were transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

A fourth vehicle, a dump truck operated by a 34-year-old man, was also involved in the crsh.  The crash remains under ivestigation.  The Maien State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit assisted with the investigation.  ?Washington Avenue was closed for aapproxiaely two  hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.  No charges have been filed at this time,
