A Chameleon Changes Itself to Preserve Itself.Without Principle.

“I campaign solo,” said Senator Susan Collins in response to a question from NBC reporter Jonathan Allen recently.  Her answer came in response to his question as to whether she would welcome President Trump to campaign with her here in Maine in a close Senate race with Troy Jackson.  It came at a time when other vulnerable Republicans are saying no politely to having Trump campaign with them.  His unpopularity with voters here in Maine and across the nation is well established with his underwater polling numbers – something to distance yourself from if you want to win re-election.  She also distanced herself from VP JD Vance’s recent visit to Bangor when he said that “Maine is the capitol of fraud” in the nation.  Collins said she had personal appointdments that day.

On another occasion Chameleon Collins was asked if she intended to attend Trump’s special convention as a prelude to the upcoming midterms in November.  MAGA member Collins responded that she doesn’t attend conventions when she is on the campaign trail.  It has been reported that a few vulnerable Republicans up for re-election and looking for funding are planning to attend.  That’s because they hope to get hand-outs from Trump’s $400 supr pac set up for that purpose.  Money that Collins doesn’t need because of the millions committed to her campaign by Pine Tree Results; comprised of around 97 billionaires from out of state who are rewriting her voting record for  tv ads to make them less toxic for Maine voters. Collins has already been prromised $170,000. from a Elon Musk super pac, another Maine favorite.

It didn’tt used to be that way.  There was a time when Collins was a loyal supporter of his; she couldn’t make enough excuses for his behavior.  Saying once that she was sure he had learned his lesson when faced with the possibility of impreachment.  No doubt this nightmare for him would change his behavior.

Chameleon Collins’  run away from town halls has been well documents in this blog.  Rather, she has barricaded herself from public scrutiny in the protective pages of the “Republican Press Herald”  That’s because its reporters willl never ask her a  question too difficult for her to answer or a follow-up that has no creditable answer.

She’s running from Trump and town halls; be careful Senator Collins.  You might run into yourself some day.
