A Rally to ‘Stop Senate Sins in the McConnell Led Senate’ is scheduled for this afternoon, Monday, October 5, at Lobsterman Park, at 4:00 pm. The site is across from Senator Susan Collins office in downtown Portland.  A caravan of vehicles will start around 3:30 pm at Cutter Street on the Eastern Promenade and proceed to Lobsterman Park.  The Rally is organized by the Maine Poor People’s Campaign, a nationwide non-profit.

Protesters have a long list of sins against the McConnell-led US Senate that has refused to take up a full and comprehensive relief package during the greatest public health crisis in a century.  Rather, it is rushing to push through a Supreme Court nominee to fill the recently vacated seat of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.  The Maine Poor People’s Campaign will not cease in its protests against McConnell’s misery, meanness and mayhem and his eagerness to hypocritically stack the Supreme Court vacancy, while refusing to move bills that address the pandemics of poverty,  systemic racism and COVID-19.

The Poor People’s Campaign is nonpartisan, but deeply political with organizing committees in 43 states.
