Early this morning a serious motor vehicle accident occurred at the area of State and Grant Streets in Portland. The accident involved a 2002 Harley Davidson and a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 pickup. It occurred at 12:42 am this morning.
The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old male from Freeport, was transported from the scene to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries. The operator of the Chevrolet, a 23-year-old from Sebago, and her passenger, a 39-year-old male from Harrison, were transported to Maine Medical Center as a precaution.
The Chevrolet was traveling on State Street when it was struck on its passenger side by the motorcycle, which failed to stop for the stop sign on Grant Street at State Street. Speed appears to be a factor.
The incident continues to be under investigation by the Traffic Division. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call the Portland Police Traffic Division at 874-8532.
