Collins Rejects Town Halls ‘Cause She Has Access to Local Newspaper Says Staffer

Close to 600 Protestors Rallied at Monument Square This Morning Against Musk and Trump.  The Huge Rally Started at 11:00 am – and Continued for About 45 Minutes Under Warmish, Sunny Skies.

A Unranian Flag Flies From a Home on Munjoy Hill Last Year.  Where Does the Maine Senator Stand?  Does She Support Ukraine or Russia?

Call Congress in DC is one of the Important Messages on This Sign at the Protest Against Trump/Musk at Monument Square, Portland, This morning.  The Woman Holding the Sign Said That She has Been Calling Republican Congresspeople and Urges Others to do the Same.  “We need to keep pressure on them,” she said.

The Signs Were Very Descriptive and in Many Cases Very Professionally Done. This Protest May Not Make the Rachel Maddow Weekday Cable News Show, but it May Get the Attention of Senator Susan Collins (R).  Something Needs to!

A Couple on Their Way to the Protest Rally With Homemade Signs Expressing Their Disgust With Trump/Musk Team.

“I don’t know why the Senator doesn’t hold a town hall in Portland.  But I will check with her scheduler on that for you,” said Aidan, this past Tuesday during a telephone conversation with this blogger.

The reason for the call to the Senator’s Washington, D.C. office was to ask when she’d be holding a town hall so that constituents in the area could attend and ask questions about some of her recent decisions and declarations of actions she promises to take.

Were the Senator from Caribou to host a town hall in Portland, that would be a historic event for the record books!  The spineless Collins has never held a town hall in this area, although she has been invited to  do just that.  As an afterthought, Aidan who is from Falmouth,  mused:  “Well you know she does have access to the local newspaper to cover her.”    This blogger added:  “Oh, you mean the “Republican Press Herald,” her mouthpiece that never asks her an embarrassing question or a  follow-up question to which there is no creditable answer?   It’s also the local that keeps jacking up its subscription cost so that fewer and fewer people subscribe to it.” Silence.

“Sooo, does the Senator believe this trade war is good for the US?   Is the Senator concerned about the negative impacts these Canadian trade wars will have on her hometown of Caribou that is the most northeastern city in the US?   Does the Senator think that Trump’s DOJ should target DC law firms like Perkinscoie because they have represented Democrats?  How did her promised meeting with RFK, Jr go on reinvesting in medical research at NIH?  What kind of progress is the Senator making on forming a group to fight Convicted Felon Trump’s medical research cuts as announced on February 28, 2025 in you know that local newspaper that has her back so  she doesn’t have to host town halls?

“Does the Senator think that “reinventing the wheel” is better than adequately funding the highly respected NIH? How does she feel about the court’s reinstating the Labor Relations Board Chair by the court that she voted against?  CF Trump said yesterday at a speech at DOJ that he is the law – does the Senator agree with that?  Does she think that Canada should become the 51st state of the US?  Does she think the US should take back the Panama Canal and what about Greenland?  Should we take Greenland over as well?

Does the Senator support the deportation of the Columbia University graduate student, a Palestinian, for criticizing the Israeli government that the Trump administration supports?

The list of questions is endless:  What does she think of the pressure she is under by Elon Musk to support CF’s cabinet choices or else?  Does she own a Tesla car?  Is she keeping it unlike Senator and former astronaut Mark Kelly (D-AZ) who has vowed to trade his Tesla for another brand based  on principle?

Aidan responded that she had no answers to these questions, but if this blogger would release my email addres to her, she would see that I got an email response to my questions.  Not to worry though, Aidan:  the “Republican Press Herald” won’t ask these and other questions of their Favorite Gal from Caribou –  like when is the Senator going to hold a historic town hall in the Portland area?

However, it is also well-known that Senator Collins is very thin-skinned.  She doesn’t tolerate criticism well.  Public meetings are not her strong point. She apparently would rather meet in her Washington, DC office with several  constituents  at a time rather than face a roomful of curious constituents.  Mainers deserve better.  It’s time!

Still waiting since Tuesday Aidan for my email response.  If you think you might have better luck than this blogger did, please don’t hesitate to call Senator Collins’ Washington DC office at:  202- 224-2523.   Call her especially if you live in her hometown of Caribou. If you want to call other colleagues of hers like Lindsay Graham, the DC switchboard number that will connect you to his office is 202 – 224.3121.  Tell him what you think of his CF flip-flop as this blogger has done!
